Alloa Says No To Parking Charges

We understand that the introduction of parking charges to Alloa Town Centre was raised at the Council meeting on the 10th February 2011. We understand that Clackmannanshire Council have appointed independent parking consultants, Jacobs to complete a traffic and parking audit for Alloa Town Centre.

We, the undersigned, are against any proposed parking charges within the car parks in Alloa Town Centre mainly because:

1. Free parking is Alloa’s unique selling point and this brings people to the town.
2. Local residents will shop elsewhere.
3. Local residents and local businesses are currently being financially squeezed.
4. People will park in residential areas.
5. Free car parking will help to entice more businesses into the town.

We therefore strongly urge the Councillors of Clackmannanshire Council to listen to their constituents and vote against any form of parking charges in Alloa’s car parks.
