English language requirement for UK spouse visa is human rights violation

New immigration rules introduced in November 2010 mean that foreign nationals from certain countries are unable to join their UK spouses until they learn English. This is a violation of the right to marry, the right to a family life and the right to be free from discrimination. It is important to build public pressure for th repeal of this law ahead of the UKBA consultation in October, if the fundamental freedoms of UK citizens and their partners are to be respected.
