We wish Summerhill School a happy 90th birthday and urge all educators, children and politicians to learn about the school, and similar models of practice of children's rights and children's democratic participation, including issues such as the right to play, freedom from fear, emotional learning, learning for life, individualised learning, community cohesion, co-operative living, restorative justice.

As the government's inspectors wrote in 1949, "What cannot be doubted is that a piece of fascinating and valuable educational research is going on here, which it would do all educationists good to see."
