More shelters and support as well as laws to equally protect male victims of domestic violence and in same sex relationships (both men and women)

Police, society and laws need to take domestic violence seriously as seen by the case of Claire Wood and others who have died at the hand of domestic violence even when police knew of perpetrators violent history.

Government cutting funds to local services, housing benefits and legal aid are making things more difficult.

Many women are being killed and failed and this needs to change yet I feel that male victims get overlooked and made a non-existent category. They too need equal support and help.

According to Men's advice line, a free phone in support service - men of all ages, all ethnic and cultural backgrounds poor and rich etc.. are calling in. The abuse itself can vary from verbal to emotional to extreme physical violence, including sexual abuse such as rape.

To victims they spoke too 92% described themselves as heterosexual and 8% homosexual or bisexual.

Public awareness of male domestic violence is slowly on the rise thanks to brave men that have come forward. They should not be silenced and made to suffer or shunned due to social distorted myths of 'masculinity'. Males do make up the majority of perpetrators of domestic violence yet women are not necessarily more violent than before we just didn't have men come forward due to stigma and being ridiculed and not accepted. Myths are still alive and need to be broken.

I wish to see more shelters, help lines and refugees to accommodate and support male victims just as equally as their female counterparts also I want to see more help women and men abused domestically within same-sex relationships and in these there is the notion that women partners will not be violent to another female partner due to gender stereotypes that sees women as caring, loving, submissive, demure and not aggressive.

Abuse has nothing to do with gender or sexuality and survivors and victims should not suffer alone.
