MPs alongside their constituents, ‘walking in other peoples shoes’? I think not!

For all their talk following the recent ‘riots’, MPs clearly do not/cannot/have never understood/understand the public’s problems, pressures (financial and or cultural), views and so on. This gap also extends to the impact of national and local government policies – whichever political party and in whichever particular parliamentary term.
Clearly (as evidenced by events), MPs do not in reality represent their constituents.

Is it not time that MPs were statutorily obliged to live in the most deprived and or statistically representative part of their constituency (against standardised indices) for the term of their elected period? This includes sending their children to the appropriate schools within the catchment area and registering with the relevant GP practice? After all nobody forced MPs to become MPs! If you actually want to represent your constituents (other than accruing expenses and property) then as far as possible live their life!

As was said many years ago, ‘if you grab them by their b%%%’s, their hearts and minds will follow’.
