New Footbrige

Goal : 6111 / 10000

We are petitioning for a footbridge over the A20 by flamingo park where my friend was killed on Sunday by Traffic. He needed to cross quick and it was a 15 minute walk to the right to cross over via a footbridge, so he decided to run, unfortunately he slipped on the grass verge and was hit by a speeding motorist. He was pronounced dead on the scene by the authorities. He was only 14 and had his whole life ahead of him and many people run across that road every day, so this is why there needs to be a footbridge there to stop anymore tragedies form happening. Therefore we would like to create a bridge in his honor and to help cut down deaths on that road. We would also like a plaque reading: R.I.P. Kaine May, 13.10.1996 - 17.07.2011 .
This will benefit the general public users of flamingo park and the green opposite where there are boot fairs and fun fairs quite often.

Reply from London Mayors officer & TFL regarding petition ;

The e-mail that you wrote to The Mayor’s office on July 22 regarding the petition for a signalised pedestrian crossing at the above location has been forwarded to us at Transport for London (TfL). This is on account of the overall responsibility we hold towards transportation within the capital, under the ultimate direction of the Mayor. We have been pleased to receive notice of your campaign, although upset by the circumstances that gave rise to it.. I was most shocked and saddened to learn of the death of Kaine May on July 17th at the age of only 14. I note that his death regrettably occurred at the above spot as a result of a collision. It is tragic that he should have died at such a young age, and I have the deepest sympathy for his family and his friends. Please be advised that I have forwarded your e-mail to the department within TfL that oversees planning on our road network, with a particular emphasis on safety. You may be assured that your campaign will be noted. Once again, please accept my condolences in respect of Kaine May, and please allow me to thank you on behalf of The Mayor's office for having brought the matter to our attention.

Please share on facebook - I am all too familiar with that particular stretch of road as I have grown up in this area.  My friends and I used to cross the road at that spot on a daily basis - twenty years ago traffic was bad enough but nowadays its a totally different.  Such a shame - my thoughts are with this poor boy's family at this terrible time XXX

Your a brave brave person, I hope one day you some one you love will make a mistake that will cut your heart into pieces, lets say one of your family because thats who you are posting to right now. You disgust his family and friends if you have nothing valuable to say then get off this page.

have you never crossed the road 'in the wrong place'? Have a heart - the poor lad has died - hindsight is a powerful thing. Can't believe how cold your comment is.

...
he shouldn't have been so stupid as to cross with no crossing.
