Petition against Bandwagons

We, the un-undersigned, do not believe that simply left-clicking a mouse whilst sitting in front of my laptop in my pants drinking Prosecco and watching last night's Dragon's Den on iPlayer will somehow stop famine in Africa, paedophilia in Plymouth or cats being used as live bait for the notorious octopus fishers of land-locked Mali.

I believe that when Margaret Mead said "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has" she wasn't including Facebook "Likes" as being either "thoughtful" or "committed". It's not exactly the Jarrow Hunger March is it?

I don't want a twibbon, I am not going to copy anything to my status to show solidarity, I shall not sign E-petitons on subjects I know nothing about simply because one of the blokes that wrote Big Train feels strongly about it. I believe that most issues are too complex to be effectively discussed in 160 characters or less and therefore if I can't be bothered to find out the details I shouldn't just go around rehearsing other people's headlines.

I will not jump on bandwagons, especially this one. So there.
