Stop the upgrading of the Ravensdale footpath to a bridleway
- sign nowCressbrook Hall (as a business) and the owner of have proposed that a footpath be upgraded to Bridleway status. The footpath in question runs from Ravensdale up the steep bank into Cressbrook (see map)
This would cause severe erosion and disruption to an area area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This is also a component of the 5 dales that comprise the Derbyshire Dales National Nature Reserve. This covers some 162 hectares. Cressbrook Dale includes wildlife habitats for example limestone, grassland, Ash Wood land, Cliff, Scree, and a natural spring water stream. The possibility of it leading to other activities and users is extremely high.
