The Longrock Crossing - Close It or Make It Safe!

On the 3rd October 2011, my family lost a loving mother, sister, grandmother and auntie who was killed by a train on the pedestrian crossing over the train track at Longrock. For those of you who didn't know her, she was a vibrant, fit and healthy 73 year old with a lot to live for. For those of you who did know her, you will still be grieving and missing her as much as I am.

It was ironic that she should have been killed this way, given that the safety of anyone crossing the track when walking with her was her overriding priority. In fact, the safety at this point was drummed into me so much, that I found it necessary to write a letter to Penwith District Council (as it was then) when I was a child, to alert them to this danger. I received a letter back from them stating that it would cost too much. To think that if they had only acted on my letter of 15 years ago, my Nanna Jan would still be with us today.

I am hoping that her death has not been in vain. It is my goal to submit this petition with the result of some serious changes being made at the Longrock predestrian crossing. My family and I thank you very much for your time and effort in signing this petition. Even if it is too late for my family, someone else will be saved by this one day.
